Drop Selection with Escape

The Escape key is used to quickly clear or select all components of the model. If the state of the current node has highlighted components, then pressing Escape will convert them into a regular selection, after which you can, for example, add components by clicking with Shift. Pressing Escape again will clear all or select all components of the current model. The Escape key can’t be reassign in the hotkey editor.

Switching Objects with Spacebar

This feature allows you to quickly switch between objects. In the Modeler mode quick pressing and releasing of the Spapcebar key will switch to geometry container that is under the mouse cursor. If you tap Spacebar not over object then the object selection mode will be activated. In SOP containers, you can switch between display node and template node.

Walk Selection with Arrow Keys

To conveniently expand a selected area by adding or removing components based on the topology and four directions, there is a feature called Walk Selection. With it, you can quickly modify the selection by pressing the arrow keys. These operations are built-in and have no shortcuts in Launcher. To expand selection use arrow keys. To offset selection press arrow keys with Ctrl. These key combinations are built-in and cannot be reassigned in the Modeler mode.

Loops and EdgeRings

In addition to Houdini's ability to interactively select loops and rings, Modeler has two tools, Loops and EdgeRings. The first brings points, edges, or faces to loops. The second tool is designed to get edge rings from selected edges.
