The PolyPen tool is designed for editing polygonal meshes and polygonal curves using a wide range of actions. The tool is operated through two interaction methods:

  1. Hover over a component (point, edge, face), press a mouse or pen button, drag, and release.
  2. A single click on a component.

By combining different keyboard modifiers (Shift, Ctrl) and mouse buttons, the user can trigger the desired action—from cutting and welding to moving components and creating bridges.

The full list of available actions is displayed on the left side of the viewport during the active PolyPen state, allowing for quick navigation through the tool’s capabilities.

Working with Symmetry

Symmetrical modeling, as in other tools, is activated through the Symmetry radial menu—simply enable the desired axis (X, Y, or Z). After activating an axis, all actions are performed symmetrically.

The top option bar of the PolyPen state contains the Symmetrize button, which performs instant geometry symmetrization. It works similarly to the Symmetrize menu item but uses two additional options located next to it:

Working with Topology

Retopology in the PolyPen tool works automatically. All geometry editing actions automatically project the result onto the high-polygon model. If the Topo mode is active, then when PolyPen is activated, the node with the high-poly geometry TOPO is attached to the PolyPen subnet.

Using Parm Slider

Any PolyPen actions add nodes to the subnet, and these nodes can be adjusted within PolyPen just like during regular modeling. On the left side of the viewport panel, all features of using Parm Slider in PolyPen are described in the sections drag Parm Slider to change and press Parm Slider to change.
