In Houdini, some tools use the mouse wheel to change the parameters of nodes. For example, after using the PolyExtrude tool, by scrolling the mouse wheel you can increase the number of divisions. Modeler tries to be comfortable not only when modeling with mouse, but also tablet pen users. Therefore, a universal tool was invented to help quickly change the node. Parm Slider is similar to the mouse wheel in other programs, but instead of scrolling the wheel, you need to drag the mouse left or right. Moving the mouse increases or decreases the value of the parameter. Also Parm Slider can change checkbox type parameters or even change a few parameters by quickly pressing and releasing the hotkey.

Example 1. Using Parm Slider in the Extrude tool:

  1. Select components.
  2. Use the Extrude Tool (F) and change the extrusion value.
  3. Hold down the Parm Slider hotkey (Z) and drag to the right to increase the number of divisions.
  4. Release Parm Slider hotkey.

Example 2. Using Parm Slider in the Delete tool:

  1. Select faces.
  2. Apply the Delete Tool (X).
  3. Press and release the Parm Slider hotkey. This will invert the deletion by activating the "Delete Non Selected" parameter.

Note:

In the EdgeLoop state, you can tap the Parm Slider one or more times before inserting to make the loop take the shape of a loop on the opposite side.
