User Preferences Folder

On different platforms, the folder with user settings is located in different places:

• Windows: C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\houdini20.5
• macOS: /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/houdini/20.5
• Linux: /home/YourUserName/houdini20.5

Installation

• If you already have a previous major version of Modeler, delete the modeler folder from user preferences folder.
• Copy the modeler and packages folders to the Houdini user preferences folder
• Remove icons cache by deleting houdini20.5/config/Icons folder.
• Run Houdini.
• Add the Modeler shelf set, which contains all the tool shelves. To add a shelf set, click on the menu with the ▼ symbol and in the Shelf Sets submenu, select the desired set.
• Save the current desktop by selecting Save Current Desktop from the desktops menu.
• You can also activate the Modeler desktop, which contains all the Modeler tool shelves and is optimized for modeling.

Before Updating:

Since Houdini currently does not allow storing multiple versions of the same node in a blackbox HDA, scenes created in previous versions will not work correctly in Modeler 2025.2.
