The Construction Plane is a quick way to set up some of Modeler tools.

These tools use the position and orientation of the construction plane if it is visible.

The best way to set the construction plane position and orientation is to activate the Houdini Volatile C-Plane Operation ("/" key). Once activated, you will be able to setup it by clicking on geometry components.

Currently the construction plane can be used to:

• Position and orient QBox, QGrid, QSphere, QTube, Tube, Circle tools
• Constraint Tweak mode movement by the construction plane Z-axis
• Override Flatten tool origin and direction

Notes:

• Pressing the Volatile C-Plane Operation hotkey a second time hides the handle but does not hide the construction plane, so using the Escape key in Modeler mode is a way for quick hiding both the plane and handle.
• Modeler tools that take the construction plane into account automatically hide it.
